Diffusion: Add a few drops of 100% pure eucalyptus oil to an electric diffuser or kettle-style humidifier to freshen air and support clear breathing—start with 3–5 drops in a standard diffuser and adjust to preference. Avoid diffusing around infants under 3 months, pets like birds or small mammals, and people with severe respiratory conditions.

Aromatic use: Inhale directly from the bottle for a quick pick-me-up or add 1–2 drops to a tissue or cotton wool and breathe gently. For travel, place a drop on the inside of a face mask (if comfortable) or on your wrists for portable aroma.

Topical application (diluted only): Always dilute eucalyptus oil before skin use—typical dilution is 1–3% (that’s 6–18 drops per 30 ml/1 oz of carrier oil such as sweet almond, jojoba or fractionated coconut). For adults a 2% blend (12 drops per 30 ml) is common for chest rubs, massage for muscle tension, or diluted spot application for insect bites. Do not apply near the face of infants or young children. Perform a patch test on a small skin area and discontinue if irritation occurs.

Eucalyptus polybractea (blue mallee) and Eucalyptus globulus (Tasmanian blue gum) differ in form, foliage, buds, oil and use: E. polybractea is a multi-stemmed mallee—low to medium shrubs or small trees—with narrow lanceolate leaves and beaked bud clusters; E. globulus is a tall, single‑stem tree with broader juvenile leaves on lower stems and larger globular buds. Both yield cineole‑rich oil, but E. polybractea gives consistently high cineole suited to commercial/pharmaceutical extraction, while E. globulus’ oil varies more by age and provenance and is the traditional medicinal source. Ecologically, E. polybractea favors arid to semi‑arid sites and post‑fire regeneration; E. globulus prefers wetter temperate areas and greater height, fitting different landscape and commercial roles.

Eucalyptus oil should not be applied directly to the skin undiluted; it is a potent essential oil that can cause irritation, redness or allergic reactions. For topical use, dilute eucalyptus oil in a suitable carrier oil (such as sweet almond, jojoba or coconut) to a safe concentration—typically 1–3% for adults—and perform a patch test on a small area first. Avoid use on broken or sensitive skin, keep away from eyes and mucous membranes, and consult a healthcare professional before use on children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or if you have medical conditions.

Wattle Grove eucalyptus oil is produced by steam distillation of freshly harvested Australian eucalyptus leaves: live steam passes through the plant material in a sealed still, vaporising volatile oils which then condense back into liquid; the condensate separates into an essential oil layer and a hydrosol, and we collect the pure oil. We use a single distillation to preserve the oil’s natural aromatic profile and therapeutic constituents, avoiding repeated heating that can alter delicate compounds, ensuring a clean, authentic eucalyptus aroma.
